It is currently 11:00am on Friday and I’m on my way to meet my pen pal!
This is the first time I’ve had some down time to write. This week has been so amazing!! I’ve never done anything like this before, and this is my first time out of the country. The flight is really long but worth it. Yesterday I was saying that I was ready to leave, but I’m not. We leave tomorrow afternoon. I’m kind of dreading the 8 hour flight back. We go from CDG (here in Paris) to…Atlanta. Then we go home from Atlanta and will be back by about midnight. I will probably be turning 18 in the airport. C’est pas grave. (An expression they use all the time meaning: “it’s no problem” I’m not sure of the direct translation.)
So, Paris…the monuments and buildings are très beau (very beautiful), but the metro…not so much. I’ve never really used a metro system before. It was nice, though, because we got to places really quickly.
Traffic here is insane. People on scooters and motorcycles just weave in and out of traffic as they please. Just now there was an ambulance trying to get through and no one moved.
So, I have some interesting stories that I’ll post later, but I’ll give you a little teaser.
- My tour guide practically got assaulted by a man claiming to be a tourist (we knew he wasn’t…more on that later)
- Policemen and antiterrorist police carry large guns
- Some creep tried to pick pocket my group (but I knew better)
- Some Canadians are not so nice (our school was in the same group as a school from Canada)
There’s probably more that I’m forgetting.
Sunday (if I’m not sleeping or at birthday dinner) I’ll have some more free time to type up these stories. Mais c’est toute pour maintenant. (But that’s it for now)
I’m probably going to be speaking Franglish for the next couple of days.
