I don’t know whether I’m proud or frustrated to be the go-to sound person for the school. For the past three years, I’ve been running sound for talent shows, show choir showcases, plays, musicals, choir concerts, orchestra concerts, Spanish concerts, and more.

I’m proud in the fact that I have the knowledge to be able to run sound by myself. I love the fact that I get to help other people out by doing what I love. However, it takes up a lot of my time. I always try to work my busy schedule around these opportunities. I hate to say no and disappoint people. When theatre season rolls around, I have to basically cancel any plans and ask off of work for a week and a half. In the end, though, it’s all worth it. It’s good practice for the future.

  1. You’re working for free it sounds like. Part of the reason I’m not hosting Mr. Mustang this year (even if they ask) is because they’re asking for a free professional service. You gotta say no.
If anything, these directors should write you a nice letter of rec.
