Firewood in the shape of a tipi sits in a circular ceramic base. The flames lick the midnight sky. The midnight sky that is bedazzled with stars. A cool breeze sends away the comfort of the fire for just a second. Friends sit around, in their uncomfortable folding chairs, reminiscing. Sparks shoot out and hug our legs; not enough to hurt us, but keep us warm. A train passing by in the distance harmonizes with the crickets.
I needed this. I’ve been so busy the last couple of months. I haven’t had time to myself in a long time. Relaxing in front of the fire just melts my stress away–at least for a minute. Sitting out here in the ambiant sounds of nature reminds me to stop, relax, and live in the moment.
